| 背面描述 | Eight small oval shields of arms of town council members, each set within elaborate Baroque cartouche frames, arranged with seven shields surrounding a central eighth. Three cherub heads with wings appear at the top and upper left and right of the composition. The remaining field is filled with finely rendered floral and foliate ornaments distributed throughout in the Baroque decorative style characteristic of early seventeenth-century German civic coinage. |

Struck during the opening years of the Thirty Years' War, this Regimentsthaler was issued by Kempten in its capacity as a Free Imperial City — a status the city would effectively lose within two decades when the Prince-Abbot of Kempten, backed by Imperial forces, succeeded in subordinating the civic administration. The "Regiments" designation refers not to a military regiment but to the city's governing council, the Stadtregiment, asserting municipal authority on coinage at precisely the moment that authority was under existential pressure.
The Haertle references 290 and 292 indicate two recognized die variants for this type, a detail worth noting when reconciling auction appearances.
