| Obverse description | Central field displays the crowned royal cipher of King Duarte I, formed by the interlaced Gothic initials 'E' and 'D' surmounted by a royal crown, all set within a beaded inner circle. The monogram is rendered in high relief in the medieval hammered style. A partially legible circular legend in uncial Latin script runs along the outer border, reading EDVARDVS REX PORT E-D L, identifying the king and the Lisboa mint. The flan is irregular and slightly clipped, typical of mid-15th century Portuguese hammered coinage. |

| Reverse description | The reverse displays a quartered royal shield of Portugal, showing the five quinas (escutcheons) of the Portuguese arms arranged in a cross pattern within a beaded inner circle. Each escutcheon contains the traditional arrangement of bezants. The shield is rendered in relief in the characteristic medieval Portuguese hammered style. A circular legend in uncial Latin script surrounds the shield, reading EDVARDVS REX PORT. The flan is irregular with uneven edges consistent with hand-struck medieval coinage. |
