| Obverse description | Central field displays the quartered arms of Castile and León within a shield, the quarters alternating between a castle (Castile) and a rampant lion (León), all enclosed within a decorative tressure. A cross pattée divides the shield into four quarters. The surrounding legend in Latin Gothic characters runs partially around the coin's irregular cob flan, typical of the macuquina (cob) coinage style. The overall strike is characteristic of hand-hammered production, with the design unevenly distributed across the planchet. |
