Reverse description Central device depicts a radiant sun with a facing human visage rendered in relief, surrounded by alternating long and short rays filling the field. The legend CONFEDERADA is distributed around the upper arc of the border, with the assayer initials J.P.P. positioned below the solar device at the base of the field. Ornamental dots and small floral or rosette stops punctuate the legend depending on the die variety. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border. The overall composition is typical of the Río de la Plata provincial coinage tradition of the mid-nineteenth century.
