| 正面描述 | Central field features the provincial coat of arms of Córdoba enclosed within an oval cartouche, depicting a gauntleted hand grasping a cross-topped staff or sceptre, flanked by small star-like ornaments, all set against a plain field within the oval. The central device is surrounded by an ornate wreath of stylised oak or laurel branches with prominent lobed leaves. The circumferential legend PROVINCIA DE CORDOVA runs around the outer border, separated from the wreath by a beaded inner circle. |

Córdoba's provincial coinage of the 1840s emerged from Argentina's prolonged fragmentation following independence, when Buenos Aires controlled the national mint and interior provinces were left to fend for themselves monetarily. The Córdoba issues of this period circulated alongside crude copper emergency pieces and foreign silver, filling a chronic shortage that federal paralysis had done nothing to resolve.
The multiple CJ variety attributions reflect documented differences in die workmanship across the 1843 emission — not surprising given the limited technical resources available to provincial minting operations of this period.
