Issued to mark the 30th anniversary of Mercosur, this is one of the few polymer circulation coins produced by the Brazilian Mint (Casa da Moeda do Brasil), which has otherwise remained committed to bimetallic and steel-core formats for its standard series. Brazil's entry into polymer coinage is genuinely recent, and this piece is among the earliest examples of that shift.
