The face value appears above the cross, the Potosí mintmark (P) to the left, the assayer's initial (Y) to the right, and the date below. The design is characteristic of the macuquina (cob) coinage tradition, with irregular flan edges and variable strike due to the hammered production method. All elements are rendered in the crude but bold style typical of early eighteenth-century colonial Spanish American cob issues. |

The overall composition follows the standard design of Spanish colonial macuquina coinage struck for the Potosí mint during the reign of Louis I, with the irregular outline and variable surface relief inherent to hammered cob production. |
