1 Real - Isabel II

The 1 Real denomination survived into Isabel II's reign largely by bureaucratic inertia — the 1848 monetary reform had rationalized much of the Spanish coinage system, but the real persisted as a fractional unit until the peseta system finally displaced it in 1868, the same year Isabel was deposed and fled to France following the Gloriosa revolution. Production across this type spanned multiple mints, and Cal#401 specimens show enough variation in die workmanship to suggest inconsistent oversight at the Madrid facility during the early 1860s.
