| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central design features the crowned Pillars of Hercules motif, with two ornate crowned columns flanking the denomination numeral '1' at the top. A horizontal band across the middle of the field bears the motto PLVS VLTRA, divided by the columns into 'PLV' and 'SVLTRA'. Below the band, the date 1818 is displayed flanked by the assayer initial 'B' to the left and mint initial 'S' to the right. The legend CARACAS appears in the lower field, with a decorative scroll or wave ornament beneath. The entire design is contained within a beaded inner border, with a reeded outer edge. |
