| Reverse description | Central design features the quartered shield of Castile and León — displaying alternately a castle and a rampant lion in each quarter — enclosed within a four-lobed polylobed cartouche. A bold cross divides the quarters, consistent with the traditional Hispanic royal arms. The date, here illustrated as 1728, appears prominently in the upper field above the shield. The circumferential Latin legend HISPANIARUM • REX runs around the periphery, separated by rosette ornaments, within a plain inner circle and a toothed outer border. The overall composition reflects the standardised milled coinage design introduced at Segovia under Philip V. |
