| Obverse description | Crowned quartered shield of the Spanish royal arms of Philip IV, displaying the castles of Castile and the lions of León in opposing quarters, struck on an irregularly shaped planchet as typical of cob coinage (macuquina). The shield is crudely rendered due to the hand-hammered technique, with the crown partially visible above. Peripheral legends are largely off-flan, a characteristic feature of this coinage type. |
