Obverse description Quartered shield of the Spanish Royal Arms, featuring the castles of Castile and lions of León in alternating quarters, struck in the characteristic irregular cob (macuquina) style typical of Potosí mint production. A crowned royal coat of arms occupies the central field, with partial remnants of the surrounding Latin legend visible along the irregular flan edges. The hammered strike imparts characteristic flatness and off-center areas to portions of the design. The overall relief is bold where struck, consistent with macuquina coinage of the later Habsburg period.
