| 裏面の説明 | The reverse is divided into two distinct compositional zones within the bimetallic format. The left portion, occupying the stainless steel centre, displays the numeral 1 in large relief against a background of fine diagonal line engraving, with the denomination legend REAL and the date 2005 inscribed below. The right portion, formed by the bronze-plated steel ring, features a terrestrial globe encircled by a bandolier or belt element, accompanied by the Southern Cross constellation, together serving as stylized allusions to the elements of the Brazilian national flag. |

Brazil's bimetallic 1 Real was introduced in 2002 as the country was emerging from a severe currency crisis — the real had lost nearly half its value against the dollar in 2001–2002, driven by contagion fears surrounding Argentina's collapse and domestic fiscal uncertainty. The coin replaced a note denomination that had become impractical to produce at low face value.
The Banco Central adopted the bimetallic format partly as an anti-counterfeiting measure, following widespread forgery problems that had plagued earlier single-metal issues.
