Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of King Charles IV facing right, rendered in the neoclassical style typical of late Spanish colonial coinage. The royal effigy features a laurel wreath, short queue hairstyle, and truncated draped shoulders. The circumferential legend CAROLUS • IIII • DEI • GRATIA • runs around the periphery in Latin, and the date appears in the lower exergual area flanked by dots. The entire design is contained within a beaded inner border.
