Carlos III's claim to the Spanish throne — backed by England, Austria, and the Dutch Republic — briefly made Valencia a Habsburg stronghold during the War of the Spanish Succession. The city fell to Bourbon forces under Berwick at the Battle of Almansa in April 1707, after which Philip V abolished the Aragonese Crown's separate institutions outright via the Nueva Planta decrees. Coinage from this window is scarce precisely because the window was so short.
