| Beschrijving keerzijde | Quartered shield of Castile and León divided by a bold cross potent, with the castle of Castile in the upper-left and lower-right quarters, and the passant lion of León in the upper-right and lower-left quarters, consistent with standard Spanish colonial cob coinage types. Applied over this design is the 'Bamba' countermark of Castile and León, a small crowned shield bearing the castle and lion, punched on behalf of Philip V to validate the coin for continued circulation in the Canary Islands. The countermark is clearly impressed into the field, partially overlapping the original cross and quartered arms. |
