Córdoba's provincial coinage survived well into the confederation period largely because Buenos Aires' repeated attempts to impose a unified Argentine currency kept collapsing under provincial resistance. This 1 Real was struck at the Córdoba mint at a moment when the province still exercised effective monetary autonomy, despite the nominal authority of Rosas in Buenos Aires. The eight-pointed sun design is specific to Córdoba issues and distinguishes them clearly from contemporaneous La Rioja and Santiago del Estero provincial types that shared similar denominations.
KM#26.1 and KM#26.2 differ by subtle die characteristics; attribution without reference plates is unreliable.
