正面描述 The obverse presents a central vignette of a sailing ship at sea, framed by an oval guilloche border, flanked on each side by two smaller oval medallions bearing the numeral '1'. Below the ship vignette, the issuer's name 'EL BANCO ARGENTINO' is set in bold letterpress, followed by a script legend reading 'Pagaré a la vista y al portador' above the denomination panel 'UN REAL' in ornate lettering. The lower portion bears a handwritten date and the place of issue 'ROSARIO', with a red manuscript serial number to the right.

备注

The Banco Argentino operated out of Rosario during a period when provincial and private banks in Argentina were largely free to issue their own currency — a situation that produced dozens of short-lived institutions before the 1890 crisis ultimately forced consolidation under the Banco de la Nación Argentina. Whether this particular bank survived long enough to see significant note circulation is uncertain; many of these provincial issuers folded within a few years of printing.

ABNC's involvement here is unsurprising — they dominated South American bank note contracts throughout the 1860s and 1870s, often supplying notes to institutions that never achieved meaningful scale.
