| Additional information |
Honduras declared independence from the Central American Federation's predecessor structure in 1821, but physical coinage lagged badly behind political reality. This 1823 issue was struck at the Tegucigalpa mint, one of the few operating facilities in the region capable of producing silver coinage under the newly autonomous administration — though output was irregular and quality control inconsistent throughout these early republican years.
KM#4 pieces from Tegucigalpa frequently show crude workmanship, a direct consequence of worn dies and limited skilled labor rather than any single production decision.
