| 背面描述 | A detailed architectural rendering of the South African Parliament building in Cape Town occupies the central field, depicted in three-quarter perspective and showing the neoclassical portico with its prominent Corinthian columns, pediment, flanking wings, and ornamental iron fence in the foreground. The engraver's initials ALS appear at lower right within the architectural composition. The bilingual legend PARLEMENT PARLIAMENT arcs along the upper periphery, with the commemorative date range 1910-1985 inscribed immediately below. The denomination 1 RAND is displayed prominently in bold relief in the lower field. |

South Africa's parliament opened in Cape Town in 1910 following the Act of Union, which federated the former British colonies and Boer republics into the Union of South Africa — a political compromise that left the franchise question deliberately unresolved and would define the country's trajectory for decades. This commemorative marks the 75th anniversary of that body, issued in 1985, the same year the government declared a State of Emergency in response to escalating anti-apartheid unrest.
The .800 silver alloy used here is characteristic of South African commemorative rand issues of this period, distinguishing them from the .925 pieces issued for export markets under different KM numbers.
