The emaSwati — the Swazi people — straddle the border between South Africa and the Kingdom of Eswatini, and their inclusion reflects post-apartheid minting policy that deliberately broadened cultural representation beyond the Afrikaner and English narratives that had dominated pre-1994 coinage.
