Informazioni aggiuntive	Vetulonia was among the Etruscan cities that sided with Carthage following the Roman disaster at Lake Trasimene in 217 BC, and this quinarius belongs to the coinages produced by allied Italian communities during the Second Punic War to help fund operations against Rome. The trident series is one of several symbol varieties distinguishing emission batches within this brief coinage — a practical administrative tool rather than a meaningful iconographic choice. Vetulonia struck no further coinage after this period. The city fades from the numismatic record entirely once Carthaginian fortunes reversed.
