| 正面描述 | The central device displays the Guatemalan national coat of arms: a resplendent quetzal bird perched atop a scroll inscribed with the independence date, flanked by crossed rifles and swords and encircled by a laurel wreath. The circular legend REPÚBLICA DE GUATEMALA arcs along the upper periphery of the inner ring, while the denomination 1 QUETZAL appears in the lower portion. Surrounding this central composition in the outer field are eight miniature national arms or emblems of fellow Ibero-American member states, arranged evenly around the circumference against a deeply mirrored proof field. |

The Ibero-American series, launched in 1991 as a joint initiative among Spain, Portugal, and their former colonial territories in the Americas, has produced annual silver issues across participating central banks for over three decades. Guatemala's entries into the series have been infrequent, making this 2012 issue one of relatively few Guatemalan contributions to the program.
