| Reverse description | The reverse presents a richly detailed allegorical composition commemorating the encounter of two worlds. In the upper central field, a colonial church facade with a clock tower rises before a volcanic mountain backdrop, evoking the Ibero-American architectural heritage. To the right, a large stylized pre-Columbian stone mask in low relief symbolizes indigenous Mesoamerican civilization. In the lower foreground, a Spanish conquistador's helmet with decorative plume and armour elements alludes to the European arrival in the Americas. The upper legend ENCUENTRO DE DOS MUNDOS arcs around the outer border, while the lower inscription 20 ANIVERSARIO SERIE IBEROAMERICANA 2012 completes the commemorative legend, all set against a mirror-polished proof field. |
