Obverse description The national coat of arms of Guatemala occupies the central field, depicting a scroll inscribed 'LIBERTAD 15 DE SETIEMBRE DE 1821' flanked by two crossed rifles and two crossed swords, with a quetzal bird perched atop the scroll, all within a wreath of laurel branches. The circular legend 'REPUBLICA DE GUATEMALA' runs along the upper periphery in bold Latin lettering. The year of mintage '1993' appears in the lower exergue between two raised dots.
