| Obverse description | Intaglio portrait of General José María Orellana in military uniform occupies the right portion of the note, set against a green guilloche underprint with a stylised Maya temple vignette behind him. To the left, a quetzal bird in full plumage is rendered in green and red above the central denomination numeral '1' within a multicolour rosette guilloche, flanked by a Maya glyph cartouche in red. Three signature lines appear below the central guilloche, attributed to the Gerente, Presidente, and Contralor General de Cuentas, with the authorization date printed vertically at the right margin. |

| Reverse description | The left third of the reverse carries an intaglio vignette of the Placa de Leyden, a pre-Columbian jade plaque bearing Maya hieroglyphic inscriptions, labelled below. At centre, an engraved view of the Edificio del Banco de Guatemala — a modernist multi-storey building with a heavily textured façade — is set against a mountain landscape with conifers in the foreground. To the right of the building appears a circular medallion inscribed 'Ara de Tikal', flanked by a Mayan figure vignette and numeral cornerstones, all rendered in a uniform green colour scheme with fine-line guilloche borders. |
