Obverse description Central field displays the papal coat of arms of Leo XII, featuring a displayed eagle on an oval shield surmounted by the papal tiara and flanked by the crossed keys of Saint Peter, all rendered in fine relief. The shield is set within a beaded oval frame and supported by elaborate acanthus-scroll mantling. A mint mark 'B' (Bologna) appears at the base of the design beneath the mantling. The circumferential Latin legend reads LEO XII PON· MAX· ANNO I, identifying the pontiff and regnal year.
