Obverse description Papal coat of arms of Pope Pius VI displayed centrally, consisting of a quartered shield with heraldic devices, surmounted by the papal tiara (triregnum) and crossed keys of Saint Peter. The shield is flanked by elaborately rendered crossed keys tied with a cord, all within a beaded border. The papal insignia are rendered in relief with fine detail characteristic of late 18th-century Roman coinage. The obverse legend encircles the design along the rim.
