| Obverse description | Central field features the Farnese family heraldic shield surmounted by the crossed keys of Saint Peter and the papal tiara, all within a beaded inner border. The Farnese emblem, a cluster of lilies arranged in a lozenge pattern, is clearly rendered on the escutcheon. The circular Latin legend runs along the coin's periphery. The overall style is characteristic of small hammered billon coinage of the mid-sixteenth-century Papal States. |
