| Beschrijving voorzijde | Crowned quartered shield of arms of Tuscany, bearing the dynastic arms of the House of Bourbon-Parma, surmounted by an ornate royal crown. The legend FRD·III·A (referencing Ferdinand III) appears to the left of the shield within a beaded border. The heraldic design is rendered in a simple engraved style typical of minor Tuscan copper coinage of the early nineteenth century. |

Louis I — formerly Louis de Bourbon, Duke of Parma — ruled Tuscany as King of Etruria, a short-lived Napoleonic client state created by the Treaty of Lunéville in 1801. He died in 1803 after a reign of barely two years, leaving his young son Charles Louis under a regency. Small copper issues like this quattrino continued circulating under his name through 1805, well past his death.
