| Obverse description | Central field bears the Pamphilj family arms displayed within an ornate trilobe cartouche, surmounted by the crossed keys of Saint Peter and the Papal tiara, emblems of pontifical authority. The shield, characteristic of Pope Innocent X (Giovanni Battista Pamphilj), is rendered in low relief consistent with hammered coinage of the period. A beaded inner border frames the design, with the circular Latin legend distributed around the periphery. The overall composition reflects the standard heraldic typology employed at the Ferrara mint during the mid-seventeenth century. |
