1 Quattrino - Ferdinando III

Ferdinando III inherited Tuscany in 1790 following the elevation of his father Leopold II to Holy Roman Emperor, and his reign over the Grand Duchy lasted only until 1801, when Napoleon's reorganization of Italy removed him from power entirely. These small copper issues circulated through a decade of mounting political turbulence, including the French occupation of Florence in 1799.

The quattrino was already an archaic denomination by the late eighteenth century, a relic of Florentine medieval accounting still limping through the monetary system largely out of institutional habit.
