| Obverse description | Central field displays the papal emblems of the Sede Vacante: the umbraculum (pavilion or canopied baldachin) above the crossed keys of Saint Peter, rendered in a bold, naive hammered style typical of late sixteenth-century Italian minor coinage. The keys are depicted diagonally crossed and tied with a cord, with the wards facing outward. The circular Latin legend SEDE٠VACANTE runs along the coin's periphery, partially legible on this irregular flan. |
