背面描述 The central device depicts a classical temple façade in full face view, rendered with two columns supporting a decorated pediment, an open doorway visible beneath, and a stepped podium at the base. To the left and right of the temple columns appear the abbreviated inscription ANN IVB, while EVGVBY is inscribed in the lower field below the podium, identifying the city of Gubbio (Eugubium) and the Jubilee year. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border, with the rim showing a characteristic milled edge.

附加信息

Benedict XIII declared 1725 a Holy Year, and subsidiary mints across the Papal States were authorized to strike jubilee issues to meet the surge in pilgrim traffic. Gubbio, a minor papal mint in Umbria, produced this quattrino as functional small change rather than any commemorative gesture — jubilee years generated enormous demand for low-denomination copper simply because Rome filled with travelers who needed to make small purchases and charitable offerings.

Benedict XIII was himself a Dominican friar of austere habits, largely indifferent to the financial machinery his jubilee set in motion. The Gubbio mint operated under leased arrangements typical of smaller papal dependencies, and output records for this issue are incomplete.
