Additional information

Alexander VIII — Pietro Ottoboni — reigned just over two years before dying in February 1691, leaving this brief pontificate with a thin but distinct coinage. The Gubbio mint, a minor provincial operation in the Papal States, was already producing limited output by this period; its issues under Alexander are among the scarcest of his already short reign.
