Reverse description A plain cross is depicted at the center of the field, enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The cross arms are bold and extend to the border of the inner circle. The surrounding marginal legend invokes Saint Mark, patron of Venice, reading S • MARCVS. The flan is irregular and the strike is characteristic of medieval Venetian hammered coinage.
