Reverse description A bold ornate cross pattée occupies the central field, with elaborately cusped or trefoiled terminals in each arm, characteristic of Venetian quartarolo reverse design. The cross is rendered in a decorative Gothic style with floriate detailing visible at the extremities of each arm. A circular Latin legend surrounding the cross reads S MARCVS, invoking the patron saint of Venice. The flan is irregular and slightly convex, consistent with hammered production. The overall design is well-centered relative to the flan size, displaying typical wear and patination of a circulated medieval billon piece.
