Alfred Justice's strawberry ticket allowed pickers or buyers to exchange labor or credit for measured produce without cash changing hands in the field, a common arrangement in American soft-fruit operations during the early twentieth century.
The issuer is untraced in standard references. That anonymity is itself typical of this genre — most were printed locally in small runs, discarded once the season ended.
