Obverse description The papal coat of arms of Innocent X, surmounted by the triple tiara (triregnum) and the crossed keys of Saint Peter bound with cords and bows, displayed prominently in the center of the field. The heraldic achievement is rendered in fine relief consistent with the hammered gold coinage of the Papal States. The peripheral legend in Latin characters reads INNOCENTIVS X PONT MAX, identifying the reigning pontiff as Supreme Pontiff. The coin is bordered by a beaded inner circle.
