| Obverse description | A large krater (two-handled vessel) rendered in bold relief occupies the central field, depicted frontally with prominent handles flanking the body and a flaring mouth above. The vessel is rendered in a archaic Italic style characteristic of early Roman Republican aes grave coinage. To the right of the krater, the ethnic legend HAT is inscribed in retrograde or standard Latin characters, identifying the issuing city of Hatria. The overall design is robust and schematic, consistent with the heavy cast bronze tradition of central Italy during the third century BC. |
