Obverse description The obverse field is dominated by bold Nasta'liq calligraphy arranged in two registers separated by a horizontal sword motif, a characteristic device of Qajar coinage under Fath Ali Shah. The royal legend reading 'Sekke-ye Fath Ali Shah Khosrow Sahebqeran' fills the field in flowing script, affirming the shah's title as 'Lord of the Auspicious Conjunction.' Small rosette or pellet ornaments punctuate the spaces between the calligraphic elements, and a beaded border encircles the entire design.
