| Obverse description | Central field dominated by bold Arabic calligraphic inscription executed in high relief, reading the pious legend attributing sovereignty to the divine. The script is arranged in multiple registers across the flan, with decorative pellet ornaments and floral devices filling the interstices between the letter strokes. The irregular hammered flan gives the design a characteristic rustic quality typical of Afghan provincial coinage of the mid-nineteenth century. No border is present, the inscription extending almost to the coin's edge. |
