Opis awersu	Central field bears a five-line Arabic legend enclosed within a decorative border of repeating foliate scroll ornaments running around the full circumference. The inscription, reading right to left in classical Arabic script, identifies the ruler as Sultan Said ibn Barghash ibn Sultan, followed by the pious invocation 'May Allah preserve him.' The lettering is boldly rendered in raised relief, occupying the majority of the field, with no additional pictorial elements. The overall design reflects the calligraphic tradition of Islamic coinage, with the ornamental border providing a clear visual frame.

Opis rewersu	Central device depicts a balance scale with two suspended pans rendered in fine relief, the beam supported by an ornate decorative finial at the top. Beneath the balance, the Arabic date ١٢٩٩ (1299 AH) is inscribed in large numerals. The entire central design is surrounded by the same repeating foliate scroll border as the obverse, maintaining a consistent decorative vocabulary across both faces. The scales motif, a symbol of justice and Islamic governance, is cleanly executed in the Brussels Mint style engraved by Léopold Wiener.
