Obverse description The national coat of arms of Botswana is depicted centrally, comprising a vertically oriented shield divided into three sections bearing a cogwheel and sorghum stalks above wavy lines representing water, and a bull's head below; the shield is supported on either side by rearing zebras, each grasping a tusk. A scroll beneath the supporters bears the national motto PULA in the field. The legend BOTSWANA arcs along the upper rim, with the date and the word IPELEGENG inscribed in the lower field below the arms.
