| Beschrijving voorzijde | Arabic legend reading 'fulus naw' (new coin) accompanied by the AH date, all contained within an ornamental square cartouche formed by double incuse border lines. The inscription is executed in raised relief in a characteristic Central Asian hammered style, with the field showing the rough, granular surface typical of Khoqand copper coinage of this period. |

Muhammad Khudayar Khan's first reign over Khoqand ended in 1858 when he was deposed by his brother Malla Khan, making this emission's window unusually tight. The designation 'Fulus-i naw' — new fulus — distinguished a reformed copper issue from the debased coinage it replaced, a recurring administrative problem for the Khanate's treasury throughout the mid-nineteenth century.
Zeno 4089 represents one of several type distinctions within this short reign, differentiated primarily by die treatment and formula variations in the mint inscription.
