| Obverse description | The obverse features an elaborate interlaced Kufic calligraphic design in the centre of the field, forming a decorative arabesque composition surmounted by a stylised floral finial. Flanking the central calligraphic device at the upper left and right are two circular medallions, each enclosing further Arabic inscription in roundel form. Below the central design, two lines of Arabic legend in naskh script read 'Arab Republic of Egypt,' and at the base of the field the dual dating appears in both Christian era (1985) and Hijri era (1405) numerals. The coin is bordered by a reeded rim with a fine denticulated inner border. |

| Reverse description | The reverse displays a central device comprising a globe overlaid with a grid pattern and encircled by a toothed gear wheel, symbolising industry and learning, with an olive wreath tied at the base flanking the lower portion of the globe. Flanking the central emblem to the left and right, the foundation and jubilee years 1960 and 1985 appear in large Arabic-Eastern numerals. The upper field bears the legend 'Cairo University' in Arabic, while the lower field carries a three-line Arabic inscription recording the Silver Jubilee of the Faculty of Economics and Political Science. A fine denticulated inner border frames the entire design within the reeded rim. |
