| Description de l’avers | The right half of the note is occupied by an intaglio vignette of a classical female figure seated in three-quarter view, holding a model sailing ship in her right hand and a trident in her left, with a basket of produce at her feet, symbolising commerce and maritime trade. The centre of the note carries a large lathe-work guilloche medallion with the denomination ONE flanking a large numeral 1, all printed over a yellow-green underprint. The bank title in ornate Gothic script arches across the upper portion, with the branch payable text AT ITS BRANCH IN KINGSTON, JAMAICA and the date JAN. 2ND 1911 inscribed below the central vignette. |

| Description du revers | The centre of the reverse carries a large intaglio engraving of the Royal Arms of the United Kingdom, with a crowned shield supported by a lion and a unicorn, the motto DIEU ET MON DROIT on a ribbon below, all rendered in dark green on a fine guilloche ground. Flanking the central arms are two symmetrical lathe-work medallions, each enclosing the denomination POUND over the numeral 1. The bank name THE ROYAL BANK OF CANADA is lettered in a curved banner at the top, with the printer's imprint AMERICAN BANK NOTE COMPANY, OTTAWA at the foot. |
