Reverse description The reverse is dominated by a large central oval vignette presenting a panoramic cityscape of Edinburgh, with the Old Town skyline, spires, and Princes Street visible in fine intaglio engraving. Four large numeral "1" corner pieces are set within an elaborate interlocking guilloche border pattern that fills the entire field in blue-grey tones. The printer's imprint "Waterlow & Sons Limited, London" appears in small lettering at the base.
