Mishmar Hanegev, founded in 1946 in the northern Negev, was among the kibbutzim that issued its own denominated scrip, essentially running a closed barter economy on paper. Because scrip of this type was printed in small quantities, used hard, and discarded when accounting cycles ended, survivors are genuinely uncommon — not artificially scarce, but practically so.
