Obverse description Black intaglio print on plain paper with an ornate engraved border; the upper left carries a circular vignette of the Manx triskelion within a legend band inscribed 'QUOCUNQUE JECERIS STABIT', flanked below by three stacked lathe-work guilloche rosettes and an oval panel bearing the monogram 'JW & E'. The central text field, in copperplate script, bears the promise to pay ONE POUND British in Bank Notes or Bills on London at the office in Douglas, with 'ONE POUND' in bold Gothic lettering within a decorative cartouche at the foot. Entry and number boxes appear in the lower portion, with a manuscript authorization line reading 'For John Wulff & Edward Forbes'.

Reverse description Black intaglio print with a large central vignette of Neptune seated on clouds, raising a trident in his right hand, with a reclining sea-figure at his left amid rolling waves. Four elaborate guilloche rosette medallions occupy the corners, each surrounded by acanthus-scroll flourishes. A Perkins, Bacon patent steel-plate imprint appears at the foot.
